Pederson, M. R. (Pete)<br />

Pete was born in Creston, <strong>BC</strong> on December 28, 1937. He joined the Navy in<br />

November 1956 and served on eight ships in Special Duty Areas between 1957 and<br />

1969. He attended Royal Roads Military College in 1970 and was then posted to<br />

HMCS Provider from 1971 to 1976 and CFS Cold Lake from 1977 to 1980. Pete<br />

taught in various training establishments from 1980 to 1984 before becoming a<br />

partner in Nisku Medical Services, teaching and providing ambulance service and<br />

security to Nisku Industrial Park. In 1988, he opened Pederson’s Essential Services<br />

and Emergency Services in Nisku, providing industrial ambulances, training, and<br />

first aid attendants to industrial sites. Between 1990 and 1999 when he retired, Pete<br />

was a safety consultant for Esso, Shell, and Nova. He bought a farm in Christian<br />

Valley but after he remarried, he moved to Okanagan Falls, <strong>BC</strong>. Pete has been a<br />

<strong>Legion</strong> member for forty-three years and is now a member of Branch #227 in<br />

Okanagan Falls. He now volunteers his time to Citizens on Patrol and with seniors.<br />

BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND<br />

Pearson, Tony<br />

Tony was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on March 8, 1925. He enlisted in<br />

the Army on October 15, 1943 and took basic training in Orillia, Ontario.<br />

He served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in World War Two and<br />

Peacetime until he was discharged in Winnipeg on February 1, 1947. Tony<br />

enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1949. He has been posted to<br />

Camp Borden, Ontario, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany<br />

while serving more than thirty-six years with the Army and the Royal<br />

Canadian Air Force. Tony has been a member of Seaview Centennial <strong>Legion</strong><br />

Branch #257 for eighteen years.<br />

Peregrym, Gwendolen L. (Gwen)<br />

Gwen was born in Surrey, <strong>BC</strong> in 1962. She served in the Armed Forces<br />

during Peacetime at CFB Penhold, CFB Esquimalt, CFB Cold Lake, and on<br />

HMCS Annapolis on the high seas and in Haiti. She received the Canadian<br />

Forces Decoration and the Special Service Medal (SSM) with Alert Bar<br />

representing her service at Canadian Forces Station Alert, Nunavut. Gwen<br />

has been a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #55 in Port Alberni for two years.<br />
