Lott, Philip<br />

Philip was born in Southampton, England on December 13, 1911. He<br />

immigrated to Canada in 1919 and enlisted with the <strong>BC</strong> Regiment, Duke of<br />

Connaught’s Own Rifles, in 1940. He did his basic training at Departure<br />

Bay, Nanaimo, British Columbia, then went to Niagara-on-the-Lake,<br />

Ontario and finally to Debert, Nova Scotia before going overseas in 1942.<br />

He was awarded the France and Germany Star, the 1939-1945 Star, the<br />

1939-1945 War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp,<br />

and the Defence Medal. Philip was discharged from the service in 1945. He<br />

was a member of the Royal Canadian <strong>Legion</strong> for over fifty-seven years with<br />

Branch #21 in Langley, Branch #17 in Courtenay, and Branch #54 in Sooke,<br />

<strong>BC</strong>. Philip passed away on August 2 nd , 2002.<br />

BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND<br />

Loosley, Donald Bruce (Don)<br />

Don was born in Woodstock, Ontario in 1926. He served in the Navy during<br />

World War Two and the Army in Korea. In World War Two, he served on<br />

the British Aircraft Carrier HMS Warrior, HMCS Edmonton, and HMCS<br />

Kincardine in the North Atlantic. Don has been a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch<br />

#21 in Langley for forty-one years.<br />

Louden, David Robertson<br />

David was born in Dunbog, Fife, Scotland on August 26, 1881. He fought<br />

with British Army with the 2 nd Cavalry, Fife Light Horse, in the South<br />

African (Boer) War of 1898-1902. After immigrating to Canada, David<br />

enlisted in the 1 st Canadian Mounted Rifles in Brandon, Manitoba on<br />

January 12, 1915 and served as a Battalion Piper with the 8 th Brigade, 3 rd<br />

Canadian Division of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in France and<br />

Belgium during World War One. David was wounded in April 1918 but<br />

returned to his unit in August of that year and fought with them for the<br />

remainder of the war. After the war, David returned to Canada, settling in<br />

Kelliher, Saskatchewan where he farmed and raised his family. He and his<br />

wife eventually moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he died in 1965.<br />
