BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND
A Message from the President
BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion
is honoured once again to present the annual
Military Service Recognition Book.
As we reflect back over the past 85 years The Royal Canadian Legion has been in existence, we celebrate the many thousands of
volunteers whose time and commitment have helped make this organization prosper. This volunteer spirit has also helped build this
great country into what it is today.
I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to those who have made this publication a reality, either by your contribution of
stories or through your generous financial support. Without your help this success would not have been possible.
This sixth book of veterans’ stories will again help us fulfill our mandate of remembrance by publishing the stories of our ex-service
personnel, helping all of us to become even more aware of the great sacrifices that have been made over the years.
This year, as we welcome back our Afghanistan Veterans, we must pause and reflect on the turmoil they have experienced, and we
must ensure their return to civilian life is as smooth as possible. BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion has
endeavored to help make this happen by setting up programs in conjunction with leading universities such as the Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder clinics offered by The Legion and UBC, and The Military Skills Conversion Programs partnered with BCIT
designed to help ease ex-service personnel back into civilian life.
As we continue our journey of remembrance and our struggle for peace, we must never forget those whose sacrifices have made
such a difference to all of our lives.
“Lest We Forget.”
Yours in Comradeship,
Bob Brady
BC/Yukon Command President
