Graham, Guy<br />

Guy was born in Ontario in 1917. He enlisted in the Nova Scotia<br />

Highlanders at the beginning of World War Two. The Highlanders’<br />

Headquarters were in the cow sheds of the Canadian National Exhibition<br />

grounds in Toronto, so Guy was very happy to go to Camp Petawawa for<br />

basic training. Guy served until Canada until the end of the War when he<br />

went to England. He volunteered for a Benefit held by Princess Elizabeth<br />

and Princess Anne and danced with Princess Elizabeth. Guy volunteered to<br />

serve at the Nuremberg Trials. He died in 1988. His daughter, Louise<br />

Soullière, is a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #293, Alberni Valley.<br />

BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND<br />

Graham, Grattan Clifford<br />

Grattan was born in Ontario in 1888. He served as a Medical Officer with<br />

the 22 nd Wing of the Royal Air Force in World War One in England and<br />

France with the rank of Captain. He also served as Acting Medical Officer<br />

to the 24 th and 26 th Canadian Infantry Battalions. Grattan was the first to<br />

attend the downed plane of The Red Baron, Baron von Richthofen on April<br />

21, 1918. Grattan returned to Canada in March 1919. He died in 1960. His<br />

granddaughter, Louise Soullière, lives in Port Alberni, <strong>BC</strong>.<br />

Grambo (nee Foster), Frances Flora<br />

Frances was born in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. She enlisted in the Navy on<br />

December 31, 1943. She joined the Women’s Royal Naval Service (WREN)<br />

and worked long, heavy hours in the laundry in Halifax. While there,<br />

Frances enjoyed playing on the women’s softball team and travelling with<br />

the team to other bases for tournaments. On one memorable trip to New<br />

York City, she saw Sonja Henie skate. After being discharged on March 21,<br />

1946, Frances moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she attended<br />

Beauty School and was married in 1948. She has attended two WREN<br />

reunions in Winnipeg and Edmonton where she enjoyed meeting old<br />

friends. In 1988, Frances moved to Westbank, <strong>BC</strong> where she has been a<br />

member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #288 for eleven years.<br />
