Honour the past, celebrate the future!
Every year on May 4th, the Dutch commemorate and honour
the brave Canadian soldiers who fought so valiantly in
WWII. Consul General Johannes Vervloed of the Kingdom
of the Netherlands and his staff would like to express their
respect and gratitude for the sacrifices Canadian veterans
made in the liberation of the Netherlands.
It is important to pass the torch of remembrance to a new
generation. This past year, The Netherlands was honoured
to receive more than 2000 Canadian high school students
who came to explore their heritage and to pay homage to the
endless rows of headstones at the Canadian war cemeteries
in the Netherlands. Our youth will become proud torch
bearers for Canada's fallen.
