Thomson, Robert Hunter (Bob)<br />

Bob was born in Scotland on March 19, 1919. His family immigrated to Canada and Bob<br />

joined the Militia’s 1 st Battalion (Edmonton Regiment) in 1938 and in 1939, enlisted in<br />

the Army at Drumheller, Alberta. Serving with the 8 th Field Ambulance RCAMC, he then<br />

transferred as a gunner to the 1 st Anti-Tank Regiment and then to the 3 rd Field Regiment.<br />

Wounded in 1942, Bob re-mustered in 1943 as a Signalman, trained to parachute behind<br />

enemy lines. Bob served in Canada, the UK, the Central Mediterranean Area and<br />

Continental Europe until his discharge as a Lance Corporal on August 18 th , 1945. He<br />

received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence<br />

Medal, the War Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Bob<br />

enlisted again in 1946 and in 1947 was posted to Baker Lake, NWT with the Royal<br />

Canadian Signal Corps. He completed his term at Edmonton in 1948. In 1949, Bob reengaged<br />

at Kingston, ON and was posted to Rivers, MB. Bob was honourably released<br />

on June 23 rd , 1955. He was killed in a car accident near Kelowna, <strong>BC</strong> on May 16, 1959.<br />

BRITISH COLUMBIA / YUKON COMMAND<br />

Theriault, Robert G. (Bob)<br />

Bob was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1930. His family moved to Creston,<br />

<strong>BC</strong> when he was young. Bob enlisted in the Navy in October 1948 at HMCS<br />

Tecumseh and did new entry training at HMCS Naden, and communication<br />

training at HMCS Stadacona. He served on HMCS Ontario, Cayuga,<br />

Antigonish, Crusader, Crescent, Digby, St. Laurent, and St. Croix. He<br />

served in Korea in 1950 and 1951 on HMCS Cayuga and in 1953 and 1954<br />

on HMCS Crusader. In 1952, Bob did a cruise around South America on<br />

HMCS Ontario and a world cruise on HMCS St. Laurent and HMCS St.<br />

Croix in 1964. He was released in November 1969 at HMCS Naden. Bob<br />

lives in Victoria, <strong>BC</strong>, where he is a member of the Chief and Petty Officers<br />

Association and Trafalgar/Pro Patria <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #292.<br />

Tilbert, Robert (Bob)<br />

Bob was born in Cambridge, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Army in<br />

Regina and did basic training in Orillia and his advanced training at Camp<br />

Borden, Ontario. He was sent to England in March 1944 where his 2/14<br />

Calgary Tank Regiment received their Ram tanks which were replaced<br />

within a month by Shermans. He served in Belgium and Holland and was<br />

with the Occupation Forces in Germany for eleven months. Bob returned to<br />

Canada in April 1946 and was discharged on June 4, 1946. He moved to<br />

Lumby, <strong>BC</strong> because of his health and has been a member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch<br />

#167 there for thirty years.<br />
