BC/Yukon Command of The Royal Canadian Legion is on the forefront of creating
new and exciting programs which address the unique needs of military families.
This comes at a time when Canada�s military returns from overseas duties and on
the horizon of welcoming a new generation of Veterans.
Legion Military Skills Conversion Program ~ Only in BC!
Who would think that the skills and experiences acquired through military service
are often not recognized in the corporate marketplace? It�s true and complicates
job seeking when our men and women in uniform are making the transition from
military to civilian life.
The Legion Military Skills Conversion Program is designed to help.
The new Legion Military Skills Conversion Program with the British Columbia
Institute of Technology (BCIT) enables service personnel to plan a civilian career
path using a three-pronged approach: academic, entrepreneurial and
employment. Participants receive academic accreditation for military service with
fast tracked post-secondary education. Courses range from one month to four
years depending upon the path chosen. For those wanting to start a business, the
program supports the development of a professional business plan. And for those
wanting to enter the workforce immediately, the program offers workshops for
professional resume development and assistance with job searches. Our
Veterans� military training and experience has value in the corporate marketplace
and through this program, we will make this happen.
