Home is Where the Heart Is
It could be your house or… as you
crest the road in your RV going on a
long and well deserved vacation to rest
and relax, the country side opens up
to reveal all that you’d hoped for. The
open country road to the lake, your final
destination for today.
The campfire is going just nicely to
roast the marshmallows on the stick that
you then place on a graham cracker with
a square of that nice chocolate. Then
you scrape the toasted marshmallow
off with a second graham
wafer to cover the first
square and squeeze
it together to let
the chocolate and
marshmallow melt
into one ooey-gooey
goodness! You take
the first bite and
your whole body
starts to rise, slowly,
as the flavour hits
your taste buds in
your mouth and
forever lets you
recall this moment.

catch the little drip that you couldn’t get
with your tongue and savour every little
bit. Maybe even have another one—go
ahead—because one is just not enough.
You get up and walk towards the lake;
the loon cries out one more time to wish
you a good night as the ripples of water
wash up on the shore.
You look up and find that the Milky
Way is reflecting in the water and
extends his majestic view over the
horizon and right across the sky as far as
the eye can see. It’s bright enough to
read a newspaper.
As I stand here,
I am as tall as a
mountain and as
insignificant as a grain of
sand on a beach at the
same time. So are my
hopes and dreams and
all my worries put into
the same category.
Never let me forget,
give me this moment to
remember!
Inevitably the kids,
playing near the fire, find
out THERE IS NO WIFI!
