Dear First Lady Cathy Justice,
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and struggles of losing my daughter. My
name is Lisa Ferriott, a West Virginian, and grieving mother of my only child. I lost my
beautiful daughter Brittany Nicole Eden's on November 25, 2017, from fentanyl
poisoning. She is Forever 29.
My life and her children’s lives have been forever changed. The lives of countless other
families have also been changed, some losing multiple children to this horrible drug
called fentanyl. We have become a family of grieving parents, children, and family
members. We are committed to raising awareness that in this horrible epidemic of
fentanyl deaths lives are destroyed in all walks of life.
My daughter Brittany was a delightful, wonderful young lady. She had a contagious
smile that lit up a room and had just posted on Facebook that this was going to be her
year to shine. She had hopes and dreams for the future, but instead she was killed by a
legal dose of Xanax that had been laced with fentanyl.
I am part of a group called the Drug Epidemic Memorial Wall. This is a 50-state initiative
that seeks to have a memorial wall established in the Capitol building, or nearby, of
every state. This wall will honor the lives of our loved ones who have been killed in this
drug epidemic. We have developed two digital walls, one of photos and one of names,
inspired by the Vietnam Memorial. These walls can update automatically and can be
displayed so that visitors can trace their loved one’s name with their fingers.
I respectfully request your help in getting this memorial wall built in West Virginia, to
help with honoring the loved ones we have lost, and with raising awareness of the
ongoing fentanyl crisis. This is a way to remember our children who are victims of the
Chinese and the Mexican cartels, and a step in fighting a war that has yet to be fought.
A group of moms would love to meet with you to discuss this project and to see if a
place can be found for our wall and be a contributor to the war against this threat to
our loved ones.
