Dear First Lady Cooper :
My sweet son, Sean Michael Horan, passed away February 6, 2019, due to Fentanyl
poisoning. He is forever 34. I haven’t been the same since that awful day.
Sean was a sweet and loving son. He was intelligent, humble, and kind. He was a very
talented guitarist, who actually taught himself to play. He absolutely loved music, animals,
and Carolina Panthers football. Sean was so funny, and he had a beautiful smile. He was
a wonderful son, brother, and friend.
Sean was a good person. He became addicted to pain pills after he was involved in an
automobile accident and hurt his back. My son fought his addiction hard and was doing so
well for a while until a so-called friend gave him Fentanyl and it took his life.
I’m in a nationwide group with a number of unbelievable moms who have lost their
children to the Fentanyl crisis. There is a Virtual Drug Epidemic Memorial Wall for every
state with our angels’ pictures. All of us grieving moms would like to have a memorial wall
put up in each State Capital Complex, to honor our beautiful loved ones who have been
lost to this drug crisis. We are trying to raise awareness of this scourge and we hope in
doing so, North Carolina will be able to recognize that our loved ones’ lives mattered. We
don’t want anyone else to suffer the same pain and heartbreak caused by the Fentanyl
crisis that we have experienced.
