Dear First Gentleman Marlon Reis,
I am an ambassador for Drug Epidemic Memorial Walls. I lost my son, Rabon, who
is forever 28. Rabon was poisoned by fentanyl in 2022. Rabon loved Colorado. He
worked as a family nurse practitioner and was passionate about providing
behavioral health care to Coloradan’s. Losing Rabon to fentanyl was both shocking
and devastating for his family, friends and patients.
As you know, Colorado is being significantly affected by illicit fentanyl through
poisonings, deaths, crime and the overwhelming need for resources. I have found
through educating and visiting with Coloradan’s that they are aware of this growing
problem, but unaware of the scope of the devastation. Coloradan’s will only grasp
the widespread havoc this drug is causing through growing awareness.
I am asking you to assist in finding a permanent location for a Drug Epidemic
Memorial Wall within our Capitol. Please help to eliminate the stigma attached to
fentanyl poisoning. Allow Capitol visitors to appreciate that Colorado’s eyes are
wide open to this epidemic and working toward eradicating the problem. The stigma
attached to fentanyl deaths needs to be eliminated. Seeing the beautiful faces of the
victims is impactful. This drug is killing innocent babies, children, teens, young
adults, mothers, and fathers. Exposing the innocent is also honoring the family’s
ongoing struggle.
The Drug Epidemic Memorial Walls has created two walls. One with photos and one
with names. I am including Rabon’s frame, below. These digital walls and albums
update automatically. Additionally, we are asking for the photos to be displayed in
hard copy format. We welcome an invitation to meet with you to improve your efforts
at fighting this deadly epidemic.
