Dear First Lady Sarah Stitt,
My name is Natasha Williams. I now reside in Dallas, Texas, but I lost my sister,
Doretta, in Lawton, Oklahoma on June 12, 2020, from fentanyl poisoning.
My sister was a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. She was caring,
compassionate, creative, and could brighten up a room. She was funny, blunt, and had
a confident and powerful presence. Her energy was contagious.
She left behind five children, four daughters and one son. My sister and I were very
close and always took care of each other. I find myself now in a position where I am
being put to the ultimate test of love and loyalty, as I have taken in all five of her
children, my nieces and nephews. I was a single mother with one child prior to her
death. I now have a house full of children under my care because she was taken from
us by deception. She didn’t want to die. She adored her children and her family and
would never have left them or us, if she had had a say. Sadly, she trusted when she
shouldn’t have. The price for that was her life, and now five children will grow up
without their mother.
Fentanyl poisoning is destroying our State, and this Country, one fatality at a time. It
does not discriminate. Doretta is proof that it can happen to anyone.
