Dear First Lady Sarah Stitt,
My name is Nancy Solomon. I lost my son, Joseph, to fentanyl poisoning.
Joseph was funny, kind, adventurous, and fearless. He had an infectious laugh, and his
smile would light up the room. He had a great childhood, numerous friends, and the
most loving family.
Joseph struggled with addiction. He had been to privately paid rehab twice. Knowing
what we know now, 30 days is NEVER enough! He was so happy, ready, and excited to
start fresh, free from the addiction he hated. He had plans. Instead, on December 1,
2021, his father found him deceased on his bedroom floor in our home. Toxicology
revealed 100% of the dangerous, highly addictive, and deadly fentanyl, and nothing
else. Our Joseph was poisoned and murdered!
Even today, nearly a year-and-a-half later, we still feel numb and shattered.
We want Oklahoma to acknowledge that our loved ones’ lives mattered. We don’t want
any others to be subjected to the heartbreak we, his family, have endured due to the
fentanyl crisis.
We are asking for your support and recognition of our loved ones. Please consider
memorializing all of those lost to fentanyl and the drug epidemic in Oklahoma, on a
Memorial Wall.
We give it to Jesus to carry us through our hurt and heal the sorrowful places in our
heart, as we await justice for our beloved Joseph; forever 40.
