Dear First Partner Siebel Newsom,
I am writing this letter, to you to plead for your support in our efforts to help eliminate and
eradicate the poison that is being used to pollute our state and kill our children. Fentanyl is being
used as a weapon of mass destruction and destroying our society as a whole. People are dying in
record numbers due to this garbage. It is the number one killer of people 18-45 in the nation, if
you think about it, those ages are our potential military and civic leader generations, so it is
weakening our infrastructure of the future.
My 28-year-old son, Dustin died from fentanyl poisoning November of 2020. He was a good kid
with a bright future as a barberf who was given a counterfeit pill laced with fentanyl. Yes, he made
a mistake, as we all have, but it shouldn't have cost him his life. Now, the grief that I, our family,
and his friends must live with on a daily basis, is difficult at best. It has affected me in ways only
other parents who have lost children (there are way too many of us) can possibly imagine. I know
that you too are a parent. How do you think you and your husband would feel if something like this
happened to you? There are many people who are trying to get legislation passed to curb this
problem, but the so called "health and safety " board, and all California senators, have rejected
every single attempt to curb this activity and hold the dealers accountable by either vetoing it, or
simply abstaining to vote.
I plead with you as a surviving parent to PLEASE HELP in any way possible, so other families
don't have to go through this senseless suffering. ANY life saved is a win.
Parents all over the world have come together. We have created two memorial walls; one with
photos, and one with names, to honor those who have lost their lives due to this drug. I am
including Dustin’s frame in this letter, along with a brochure of virtual memorial walls, albums, and
our awareness campaign. These digital walls and albums update automatically, and we would
also like the photos displayed in hard copy format.
We believe that our loved ones should be treated like victims of a weapon of mass destruction.
They were all victims of Purdue Pharma, Chinese and Mexican cartels. Our group of California
moms would love to meet with you and work together to prevent this from happening ever again.
We urge you to help us find a permanent location for the Drug Epidemic Memorial Wall within our
capital. Our goal is to raise awareness about the devastating effects of drug addiction and the
dangers of fentanyl. We want to honor those who have lost their lives to this epidemic. We believe
that your support and involvement would be crucial in achieving this goal.
