Centenary Hall
In 2016, the year that was 100 th anniversary
of the birth of Puey Ungphakorn (1916-1999),
the 10 th chancellor of Thammasat university,
and also was the year that he been named by
UNESCO as one of the world’s most important
people for his “impeccable ethics”. In order to
celebrate Prof. Puey Ungphakorn, who not
only be important to the university but the
country as well, along with the university slogan,
“Thammasat university, where we learn to love
the people”, Thammasat university-Rangsit
campus aim to develop the site which located
at the center of the campus used to be scattered
parking area, not only to serve students
and the university activities, but to serve all
the people, the community and the country
as well.
Therefore, the program was to create the
landmark and the main axis of the campus
that provided space for university’s student
and public functions consisted of concert
hall with royal lounge, moral and politics
sciences museum, non-permanent exhibition
hall, archives, library, movie room, co-working
area, canteen, supported office, public
service center and public park.
Architectural Concept
The Study Center consists of classrooms
for the Faculty of Architecture and Planning,
Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Fine and
Applied Arts, and Faculty of Education. It
reflects the philosophy and the concept of
promoting learning innovation “Teacher for
pupils” and a prototype of a learning facility
that inspires imaginations and creativities,
wisdoms and spirits in order to create new
borderless leaders of change.
The Community of Learning Hub
The building located in the main axis of
Thammasat University – Rangsit Campus.
As the Community of Learning Hub there
are multiple entrances accessing to activity
spaces for students to socialize and learn
to make friendships.
Architecture Encourages
Multidisciplinary Learning
Intending to support and nurture a new generation
of teachers and academics to believe
in social development and continuous learning,
the overall design of the project creates a
learning community. The educational space
promotes interactions and learning exchanges
in a variety of styles while encouraging a sense
of community. The building also provides
different learning environments, from private
spaces for reflection, self-study, or small
groups to social spaces for learning through
interaction to communal space where learning
