check any wrong manifestation of character, both m<br />

them and in yourself. By these means, you will<br />

wind cords of enduring affection round their hearts.<br />

love you, and they will also love home for<br />

your sake. And, if your brother should be lured<br />

into the tempestuous seas of passion, your image,<br />

gleaming through<br />

the surrounding mists and vapors,<br />

will revive the strength of his virtue, and mspire him<br />

with the energy to<br />

escape from those foaming breakers<br />

where so many strong men have perished.<br />

Many a brother has fallen for lack of such a vision.<br />

A distasteful home has driven him into sinful<br />

society.<br />

Has unto him become a cheerless den.<br />

His pleasant tales, and sprightly, playful talk.<br />

Which once their social meals were wont to charm,<br />

Now visit them but like a hasty beam<br />

Between the showery clouds."<br />
