dence and ease ; the vile dare not molest her if she<br />

acts with common prudence, and she is comparative<br />

ly safe ; though it is my opinion that unless she<br />

has gained experience <strong>by</strong> first<br />

travelling in company<br />

with others, a young lady ought not to travel alone,<br />

unless circumstances make it her absolute duty. In<br />

such a case, her safety must be secured <strong>by</strong> proper<br />

orecaution and demeanor, and <strong>by</strong> a fitting trust in<br />
