TOP WINES
OUR AUTUMN SELECTION
AN INTENSE THIRD ROUND OF TASTINGS IN 2023
Despite the summer holiday season and short break in August, the pace of our tastings
has remained brisk. Wines from Eastern Europe continue to grow and South America is
increasingly gaining traction, particularly Argentina - where we opened an office in Mendoza
in the spring – along with Chile and Uruguay, the continent’s three long-standing producer
countries. Of course Europe remains in the majority with its robust trio France-Italy-Spain,
but variety is the name of the game with strong growth from Portugal, as well as Lebanon and
Greece for example. You could say this is globalisation in a good way!
PICKING GRAPES BY HAND IN THE RHONE VALLEY WITH VIEWS OVER THE DENTELLES DE MONTMIRAIL
THE BEST OF AUTUMN 2023
Our selection, tasted and rated by our panel, is presented on pages 121 to 130. As always, we have chosen to
present the wines by country (SOUTH AFRICA, PORTUGAL…) then by appellation in each region with
each company or winery listed in alphabetical order and in descending order of their scores. You will also
find in this issue our selection of Cabernet Sauvignon wines from South Africa, Portuguese wines, bottlings
from South-West France, six gems from the southern Rhone Valley and also low alcohol or alcohol-free
Italian wines, a trend that is increasingly gaining currency internationally.
