“At El Tablero Shopping Centre, customers have a different kind
of sensory experience compared to other shopping centres”
We spoke to the Director of El Tablero Shopping
Centre, a benchmark centre in the south of the
island, located close to the main tourist resort in
the area of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, with clearly
signposted access from the GC-1 motorway (exit
48) and free, large and easily accessible parking.
How would you describe the experience that
your shopping centre offers to visitors?
As it is a fully open air shopping centre, in the south
of the island of Gran Canaria, where the average
temperature of the year is 20-25 degrees, we offer
a truly pleasant experience because visitors can
shop, and sit and relax at a terrace, in complete
comfort and with an almost personalised attention.
Given its location in a tourist area with lots of
greenery all around, how is the natural environment
integrated into the shopping experience?
The shopping centre boasts landscaped areas and
vegetation in its interior, which provides it with a
warm atmosphere, and which seeks to give customers
a sensory experience different from other
shopping centres. This green space was created
with the aim of transmitting a relaxed and laid
back environment for customers to enjoy their
shopping, with the wonderful bay of Maspalomas
as a backdrop.
What are the top-name brand shops that visitors
should look out for?
El Tablero is a shopping centre that is the perfect
size to enjoy all the shops in a single visit. All the
shops have a lot to offer for fashionable shopping,
and for those looking for the perfect gift for family
and friends. Importantly, El Tablero Shopping Centre
has the only ZARA shop in the south of the island,
making it a fashion hotspot where shoppers
can find the perfect outfit to keep up to date with
the latest trends. Other brands worth mentioning
include Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Timberland and
Base Sport.
The offer is rounded off with other fashion, accessory
and service shops, distributed on two shopping
floors. And, of course, visitors can finish their
day’s shopping by going up to one of the fantastic
terraces overlooking the famous Maspalomas
Dunes.
Could you highlight a few of the special activities
or events that your shopping centre organises
in order to attract visitors?
In this area, we focus very much on the family and
present a range of leisure activities for the youngest
members of the family, always adapted to the
time of year. For example, and with Christmas just
around the corner, we have put together a fun calendar
for children to enjoy the festive season here
in their favourite shopping centre. We want to surprise
the little ones, because our happiness lies in
a child's smile.
Another highlight was our Christmas lights switchon
event on 24th November, which was a bright
and magical event and was enjoyed by all members
of the family.
You have a huge terrace area with unrivalled
views. What culinary and restaurant options are
on offer in this area for your customers?
Indeed, the culmination of a day’s shopping is the
chance to sit back on one of our terraces, enjoy the
surroundings, and taste the gastronomic options
offered by the restaurant area. We have a wide variety
to suit all tastes and families.
I would highlight the famous Burger King chain,
100 Montaditos, and local cafes such as Café 7 Razones,
The Corner and Venice Bistró.
What is the best time of year to visit your shopping
centre?
We are located in the south of Gran Canaria, at the
heart of the tourist resort, where the temperature
is warm practically all year round, so any day of the
365 in the year is a good day to visit, because we are
open every day, from Monday through to Sunday.
