MWFA FSTNR WEEK DELIVERS WITH MANY OPPORTUNITIES from page 46
Many donned their 80’s attire (even those not old
enough to remember the 80’s!!). The show became a
party, and the industry always enjoys a party, so it was a
great mix.
Wednesday, August 23rd featured the 70th MWFA
Golf Outing. It may have been the hottest outing ever
at 100 degrees!!! Still golfers weren’t going to miss a
MWFA Golf Outing!! Over 140 golfers came out to endure
the heat. Golfers were presented with commemorative
70th anniversary golf umbrellas as a thank you for 70
great outings! Water may have been the biggest seller
that day!! Congratulations to our winning teams: First
Place: B&D Cold Heading Jack Dobek, Tim Quick, Ryan
Cooper, Gage Fasbender. Second Place teams tied SWD
(Matt Delawder, Mike Endres, Chip Holler, Joe Zucchero)
and Component Technologies (John Paris, Ron Jarvis,
Marc Goddard, Rob Crowder). And a big congratulations
to Mike McLaughlin of BTM Mfg. for his hole in one. It
may not have been on the hole in one sponsored hole
but an impressive highlight of the day!!
The week wound down with the MWFA Mixer on
Thursday at Real Time Sports. This was a social event
providing drinks, appetizers, and prizes. Raffle prizes
were provided by Abbott Interfast, Volt Industrial Plastics,
XL Screw, and MWFA. Once again the heat continued so
the patio event was moved indoors but it was still a fun
evening of networking in the industry.
The week also included Fastener Training Institute’s
Fastener Training. Student’s attended a week of intensive
fastener education. After completing the training and
passing a final exam, attendees are eligible for the
Certified Fastener Specialist (CFS) designation.
The week may have been the hottest week of the year
in Chicago, but it didn’t stop the industry from gathering
every chance provided. The week provided amazing
networking opportunities, great product sourcing, new
vendor relationships, catching up with industry friends
and more!! Thank you to everyone who met in the
heart of the fastener industry to celebrate the fastener
industry. Watch for 2024 plans!!
