blank), 57 lines and headline, Roman type, a1 in red and black,<br />
woodcut decorative initials, woodcut printer’s device to foot of<br />
R8 verso, 17th century ink ownership inscription to a1 and front<br />
pastedown, occasional early ink marginalia, some water-staining<br />
and foxing, mostly marginal, but encroaching within text on sigs.<br />
d&e and a few other ff. (mostly light), c4 upper corner repaired,<br />
not affecting text, 16th century vellum over wooden boards, metals<br />
clasps, hole near head of spine, stained and marked, [BMC VII,<br />
1047; Goff N-6; Hain 11676], folio, [Vicenza], [Henricus de Sancto<br />

78. Early Printed leaves & cuttings.- Co l l e C t i o n, including: a<br />
leaf from Francesco Colonna’s Hypnerotomachia Poliphili, ?1545;<br />
a leaf from Hartmann Schedel’s Nuremberg Chronicle, 1497; and<br />
several other incunable ff., among them two with woodcuts, and<br />
partial ff. from a legal text retrieved from a binding; also a group<br />
of early printed title pages, printers’ marks etc., and folio woodcut<br />
ff. in Dutch; two conjoint ff. with Crucifixion scene and musical<br />
notation, 16th cent; and a 19th cent. Italian printed commemorative<br />
text for a visit to North Italy by the Austro-Hungarian emperor,<br />
some browned, some edges chipped, v.s., v.d., (c. 150 pieces).<br />

column, 50 lines, Gothic type, title decorated in red, initials supplied<br />
in red, one in blue, small tears to title, 2 repaired, marginal holes<br />
to next 2 ff., small holes to margin of last 4 ff., heavy brown stain to<br />
2nd & 5th ff., lighter stain to last few ff., little syaining & marking<br />
elsewhere, early, mostly obliterated, ownership note on title, early<br />
marginalia to Table, at head of Bede, and occasionally elsewhere,<br />
scoring, vellum strip with ownership inscription, and bookplate, on<br />
front paste-down, contemporary calf over wooden boards, covers<br />
decorated in blind, with roll-tooled border of flowers and birds,<br />
and central panel, brass corner and centre-pieces, and remains<br />
of clasps, vellum title-lable on front cover, rebacked, spine blindstamped,<br />
gilt-lettered, small gilt arms at head, [BMC I 162; Goff<br />
E-129; Hain 6714], folio, Strassburg, [Georg Husner], 1500.<br />
