o r i g i n a l pa rt s, engraved portrait and 32 plates by John Leech, parts
9 and 15 with slips making an apology for the delay in illustrations,
advertisements, general title and contents ff. bound at end of part
16, original pictorial wrappers by John Leech, parts 3, 4, 5, 12
and 16 sympathetically rebacked or with a small repair to spine
or wrapper, some light soiling and marking, rubbed, preserved
in a 20th century cloth chemise and slip-case, 8vo, [1846]-1848.

architecture and landscape subjects, i n C l u d i n g 2 o r i g i n a l
wat e r C o l o u r s o f e l e g a n t fr e n C h i n t e r i o r s C e n e s b y g. te x i e r,
interspersed with cut-out floral, fruit and bird ornament, mostly
original watercolours, including numerous floral cartouches
containing manuscript verses and riddles, these and some captions
in English, original watercolours, 18th and early 19th century
engravings, stipple-engravings, mezzotints and lithographs, many
printed in colours or with original hand-colouring, many as cutouts
but some trimmed to the entire image, v.s., mounted on both
sides of c.75 album leaves, some with just a single large image, each
leaf c.415 x 500mm., the Texier watercolours each c.220 x 300mm.,
a few smaller leaves loosely inserted, occasional surface dirt, full
diced calf, worn, gilt-lettered label on upper board of Madame de
Bonanny, upper joint broken, oblong folio, [early 19th century].

ink ownership inscription to front pastedown, half-title, title and
introduction f. stained to varying degrees, occasional spotting or
finger-marking, original cloth, gilt, spine ends and corners a little
frayed, rubbed and soiled, scarce in original cloth, 8vo, 1852.
