Christmas in the
Swiss Alps
The Bernese Oberland is regarded as the most beautiful part of Switzerland and we are pleased to
offer you the chance to celebrate the Festive Season with us in this fairytale backdrop.
DAY 1: Your Door to Door service will transfer you to the airport for your flight to
Zurich. Our local coach will then drive us through the spectacular scenery to the
village of Aeschi arriving at our hotel in time to settle in and have dinner.
DAY 2: Following breakfast we will depart the hotel mid-morning for our included
excursion to nearby Spiez on Lake Thun. The town nestled between hills & vineyards
is dominated by the magnificent castle. Above the lake the Niederhorn Range
stretches as far as the Bernese Alps and forms a magnificent panorama. We continue
our journey to visit the city of Thun which is located at the lower end of the Lake.
The historic Old Town is situated close to the shores of the lake. The castle in the
centre of the Old Town dates back to the 12th century. We have free time here to
explore the sites, shops, & cafés.

DAY 3: Today our excursion takes us through the Simmer Valley and over the hills to
Gstaad. Rushing mountain streams, sparkling mountain lakes, forests and hills with a
spectacular Alpine backdrop lend the landscape its idyllic charm. Why not take the
opportunity to travel high into the surrounding mountains by cable car. Back at the
hotel we have arranged a torchlit walk around the village followed by a warming
glass of mulled wine.
CHRISTMAS EVE: This morning we drive to the historic capital city of Berne a
diverse and beautiful city founded in 1191. Berne has many attractions and historic
sites. Today there will be a traditional Christmas Market selling gifts, crafts and
confectionery. The shops in the quaint old town will also provide an ideal
opportunity for some last minute presents. We will be welcomed back at the hotel
with live music, coffee and cake.
CHRISTMAS DAY: After a hearty breakfast we head for the mountain resort of
Adelboden a typical chalet village where we will have time to have a look around
and enjoy a sleigh ride. We return to the hotel in time for our traditional Christmas
Lunch, followed by a lazy and relaxing afternoon or maybe take a stroll around the
village. In the evening we have dinner followed by entertainment.
BOXING DAY: Our excursion today takes us to Interlaken which lies between Lake
Thun & Lake Brienz, Interlaken is overlooked by the three mighty mountains, Eiger,
Monch & Jungfrau, and the scenery is breathtaking & magical. We continue our
journey to the resort of Grindlewald surrounded by the commanding mountainscape
with the Eiger north face and the Wetterhorn. This mountainscape makes
Grindlewald one of the most popular resorts in Switzerland. We return to the hotel
for our farewell dinner with entertainment.
DAY 7: We say farewell to the village of Aeschi and return to Zurich Airport for our
flight home to the UK. Our Door to Door service will be waiting to take you back
home.
