Grand Heritage of India<br />

Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Varanasi<br />

DAY 1: Door to Door Service to Heathrow Airport for your overnight flight to Delhi.<br />

DAY 2: We arrive in Delhi late morning and our local coach will transfer us to the<br />

hotel where there will be time to settle in and freshen up before departing on an<br />

early evening panoramic tour of the city. We return to the hotel in time for dinner.<br />

DAY 3: Following breakfast we depart for a full day discovering the city. During the<br />

morning we visit the fascinating and colourful Old Delhi where we enjoy a rickshaw<br />

ride in Chandi Chowk "Silver Street" one of the largest trading centres of India.<br />

Passing the Red Fort, a World Heritage Site, we visit Jama Masjid the largest mosque<br />

in India and Raj Ghat the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. We have included a<br />

lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our tour of Delhi.<br />

DAY 4: We leave Delhi today and take a leisurely drive to Jaipur stopping enroute for<br />

an included lunch. Jaipur, land of the Rajputs is an exuberance of colour, dance and<br />

traditional arts and crafts. Known as the Pink City Jaipur is home to many ancient<br />

forts and palaces. We arrive in time to settle in before dinner.<br />

DAY 5: This morning, following breakfast, we visit the Amber Fort, which was built in<br />

the 16th Century, where an elephant ride will help you ascend to this hilltop fort<br />

(alternatively you could choose to walk or drive to the fort). Lunch is included at a<br />

local restaurant before we continue our tour. Later we will have time to explore the<br />

many facets of Jaipur crafts and enjoy a little souvenir shopping in this colourful city.<br />

DAY 6: After breakfast we leave Jaipur and journey on our coach to Agra stopping en<br />

route for a visit to Fatehpur Sikri. We have arranged lunch at a local restaurant<br />

before we continue our tour to Agra and to the hotel in time for dinner.<br />

DAY 7: This morning our excursion takes us to visit the awe-inspiring beauty of the<br />

eternal symbol of love, the Taj Mahal, which is beyond doubt one of the most<br />

precious architectural heritage sites of India. Today we also visit the old Agra Fort, a<br />

grand group of monuments built in red sandstone, the building took eight years to<br />

build and is second only to the Taj. We have included lunch at a local restaurant.<br />

DAY 8: After breakfast we depart the hotel for the railway station where we board<br />

an express train to Jhanis where our local coach will collect us and drive us to the<br />

medieval town of Orchha. We have arranged a half day guided tour of the city<br />

where you will see many shrines and memorials each with its own poignant history,<br />

each contributing to the nostalgic beauty that is Orchha. We have included lunch on<br />

arrival in Orchha. We return to our hotel in time for dinner.<br />

DAY 9: Today we have a full day visiting the temple city of Khajaraho famous<br />

throughout the world for its exquisitely carved temples. We have included a lunch at<br />

a local restaurant after which you will have a little free time to explore the city<br />

further, before returning to our hotel for dinner.<br />

DAY 10: This morning we have arranged a guided visit to the enchanting temples of<br />

Khajuraha. After our included lunch you will have free time to explore a little or<br />

simply relax back at the hotel.<br />

DAY 11: The morning is free before we transfer to the airport for our lunch time<br />

flight to Varanasi arriving in time for lunch at the hotel. Early evening we have<br />

arranged a rickshaw ride to the Ghats to enjoy the Aarti ceremony conducted every<br />

day at sunset by white-robed young priests who worship the river goddess with<br />

incense, flowers and earthen lamps. We return to the hotel for dinner.<br />

DAY 12: We have arranged a very early start for those who wish to go and see the<br />

bathing Ghats on the River Ganges. This is where thousands of pilgrims pay homage<br />

to the Sun God by immersing themselves in the holy water of the river and the<br />

burning Ghats where ceremonial cremations are conducted. We return to the hotel<br />

for breakfast. Following breakfast we have included a visit to Sarnath, the place<br />

where Lord Buddah gave his first sermon Time to visit the ruins, stupa, Buddist<br />

temples and museums. Later our local coach will transfer us to the airport for our<br />

flight to Delhi arriving early evening in time for dinner at the hotel .<br />

DAY 13: Breakfast at the hotel before our transfer to Delhi airport for our return<br />

flight to the UK and your Door to Door service.<br />
