On this two centre tour we sample the scenery, culture and history of Tuscany from our base in the<br />

spa town of Montecatini before heading to Rome to explore the highlights of this beautiful city.<br />

DAY 1: Your Door to Door service will transfer you to the airport for your flight to<br />

Pisa where our local coach will collect us and take us to our hotel in the resort of<br />

Montecatini with time to settle in before dinner.<br />

DAY 2: Following breakfast we will take the short walk to the railway station to board<br />

the train to Florence. Our local guide will introduce you to the many delights this city<br />

has to offer. Florence has many museums, palaces and churches which house some<br />

of the world’s greatest artistic treasures. You will have plenty of time to explore the<br />

city further, wander the ancient streets or maybe just sit and relax and enjoy the sights<br />

and sounds of this enchanting city before catching the train back to Montecatini.<br />

DAY 3: After breakfast we visit Pisa where we have included a guided tour. The tour<br />

will take in the many sights of the city including the Leaning Tower. You will have<br />

plenty of free time to further explore the city has many castles, churches and<br />

monasteries all scattered on top of the hills along the river and its ancient streets.<br />

After lunch we continue our excursion to Lucca, a colourful and wealthy town, a real<br />

jewel in the Tuscan crown. One of the first sights of the town are the walls which<br />

surround it. Lucca also boasts some of Italy’s finest medieval and Renaissance<br />

architecture.<br />

DAY 4: A free day in Montecatini to relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities or maybe<br />

take a ride on the Funicular railway to Montecatini Alto, a typical medieval village<br />

where you can enjoy the spectacular views over the new town. The delightful Piazza<br />

Giusti has plenty of bars and cafes where you can sit and relax.<br />

DAY 5: Today we have included a leisurely scenic tour to the Chianti Region. This<br />

region of Tuscany is one of the most beautiful as well as one of the best known<br />

areas of Italy. We have included a visit to San Gimignano, a small walled hill town<br />

famous for its medieval architecture and towers which can be seen for miles around.<br />

We will have time for lunch before continuing for an included guided visit to the<br />

vineyard Castello Vicchiomaggio a Greve where you will be invited to sample the<br />

famous Chianti Wine.<br />

DAY 6: Today we leave Montecatini and travel towards Rome stopping at Perugia en<br />

route for lunch and a little free time to explore this hill city. Enjoy the breathtaking<br />

views over the Umbrian Hills and maybe indulge in a little Perugian chocolate. We<br />

continue our journey to Rome arriving in time to settle in before dinner.<br />

DAY 7: Following breakfast our local coach will take us on a panoramic tour of the<br />

city & our local guide will introduce you to the delights of the Eternal City of Rome.<br />

The afternoon is free to further explore, with maybe a visit to the Vatican City, the<br />

Colosseum or the Trevi Fountain. Or simply wander the winding streets and marvel<br />

at the magnificent monuments and architecture of this living museum that is Rome.<br />

DAY 8: Morning is free to explore a little more of the city or maybe a chance to do a<br />

little last minute shopping before our transfer to airport for our return flight to the<br />

UK and your Door to Door service home.<br />
