based at Stresa on Lake Maggiore<br />
Lake Maggiore situated in the north west of Italy crosses the border into Switzerland. Our resort<br />
of Stresa is an ideal location on the shores of the Barromean Gulf. Once a tiny fishing village<br />
Stresa is now a bustling & vibrant town. Around the lake you will find olive, lemon & bay groves<br />
and the many gardens florish in the perfect climate.<br />
DAY 1: Your Door to Door service will transfer you to the airport for your flight to<br />
Milan. Our local coach will take us to our hotel at Stresa in plenty of time to settle<br />
in before dinner is served.<br />
DAY 2: Following a leisurely breakfast we have included a short guided tour of the<br />
town of Stresa, which is sprinkled with villas, grand hotels and parks & has a<br />
beautiful lakeside promenade with magnificent views over the lake to the three<br />
islands. The centre of Stresa has a good selection of cafes, traditional souvenir shops<br />
& boutiques. There is a cable car up Monte Mottarone with fantastic views over the<br />
lake and to the Alps beyond. The afternoon is free to further explore or simply relax<br />
at the hotel & enjoy the many facilities.<br />
DAY 3: Today we take a scenic drive into Switzerland to the town of Lugana which<br />

lies on the northern side of Lake Lugano and is surrounded by mountains offering<br />
splendid viewpoints. The traffic free historic town centre with its Meditterranean<br />
style squares and arcades invite you to relax & enjoy the sights and sounds of the<br />
delightful town. After lunch we continue our scenic tour to Locarno where you will<br />
have plenty of free time to wander the narrow lanes of the Old Town which all lead<br />
to the Piazza Grande. The 12th century Castle and the Church of Maddona del Sasso<br />
are two of the many sights the town has to offer visitors.<br />
DAY 4: This morning is free to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities or maybe go for a<br />
lakeside walk. Following lunch we have included a short boat ride to the Barromean<br />
Islands & admission to The Palace. The monumental Baroque Palace and the<br />
majestic and scenic gardens have made the islands famous. The gardens contain<br />
many rare and exotic plants and the spectacular blossoming is planned to ensure<br />
that it is filled with colours and scents from March to October.<br />
DAY 5: Today we depart after breakfast to enjoy our full day visiting Lake Como, one<br />
of Italy’s most popular lakes. The stunning views and crystal clear waters create a<br />
perfect vista. The many towns which dot the shores are picturesque and charming.<br />
We have also included a visit the town of Tremezzo, one of the most famous villages<br />
of the area, situated on the western shore of the lake. The impressive villas some<br />
dating back to the 17th century, stand at the edge of the lake. The village stretches<br />
back up into the hills & both the parts are equal in their beauty and splendour. We<br />
will have plenty of time to explore further or to just relax and enjoy the views.<br />
DAY 6: Today we have a free day in resort to reflect and relax.<br />
DAY 7: Following breakfast we travel to Lake Orta, the lake that most tourists have<br />
not yet discovered. The stunningly beautiful views of the lake with the glistening<br />
silver blue of the lakes waters contrasting with the backdrop of mountains give the<br />
place an eerie silence which is relaxing and enchanting. After lunch we continue to<br />
the town of Arona which enjoys a lovely<br />
climate & faces the splendid Lake<br />
Maggiore. The town is also known for<br />
the colossal copper statue known as<br />
“San Carlone” dedicated to San Carlo<br />
Borromeo, second only in size to the<br />
Statue of Liberty in New York.<br />
DAY 8: Following breakfast we leave<br />
Stresa and our local coach transfers us<br />
to Milan for our return flight to the UK<br />
and your Door to Door service home.<br />
