Early 2009: A new company program called “One” introduced to<br />

support <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong>’s strategic goals. One, the successor to<br />

new 2 , retains the key strands of customer satisfaction (Customer 1)<br />

and staff development (1 Team). The program also includes strategic<br />

initiatives to strengthen <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong>’s leading position on its<br />

market:<br />

• becoming a provider of solutions (1 Solution Provider);<br />

• giving priority to new economies (1 Leader in New Economies);<br />

• simplifying processes in order to act as a single, unifi ed entity (1<br />

Company).<br />

An environmental approach<br />

<strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> works actively to reduce its environmental<br />

footprint, while making energy easier to use, safer, more reliable,<br />

sustainable and accessible.<br />

2002: The Group confi rms its commitment to responsible<br />

management by creating a Sustainable Development Department,<br />

which now forms an integral part of the Strategy & Innovation<br />

Department.<br />

2005: The quarterly Planet & Society survey is set up to track and<br />

report on the Group’s sustainable development performance.<br />

<strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> was also the fi rst manufacturer to sign French<br />

environmentalist Nicolas Hulot’s pact for the environment and the<br />

sixth global enterprise to join the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI).<br />

2010: Towards new growth opportunities<br />

Through the One company program, the Group is continuing the<br />

process of change to maximise its opportunities for growth, with<br />

the aim of:<br />

• expanding along the value chain, by providing its customers with<br />

simple and integrated solutions;<br />

• benefi ting on both the demand and supply sides from the<br />

prospects offered by the intelligent grid;<br />

• accelerating profi table growth in emerging economies.<br />

2010 REGISTRATION DOCUMENT SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC<br />

New acquisitions strengthen the Group’s portfolio<br />

The acquisition of the distribution activities of Areva Distribution,<br />

announced in late November 2009, aimed at making <strong>Schneider</strong><br />

<strong>Electric</strong> one of the world leaders in medium voltage (MV) and<br />

electrical distribution automation systems, was completed in<br />

June 2010. <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong>’s medium voltage operations have<br />

therefore been strengthened by Areva T&D’s distribution activities,<br />

and a new energy business has been created: Energy.<br />

January 2010: acquisition of Cimac, the leading industrial<br />

integration systems engineer in the persian Gulf region.<br />

March 2010: acquisition in India of the assets of the Electronic<br />

Systems Security Integration branch of Zicom Electronic Security<br />

Systems Ltd.<br />

April 2010: Acquisition of SCADAgroup (Australia), a key player<br />

in telemetry technologies and solutions in the water, oil and gas<br />

sectors.<br />

October 2010: Agreement reached to purchase 50% of<br />

Electroshield-TM Samara. This acquisition strengthens <strong>Schneider</strong><br />

<strong>Electric</strong>’s position in the medium voltage sector, as well as its<br />

presence in Russia.<br />

November 2010: Acquisition of Italy’s Unifl air SpA, which<br />

specialises in precision cooling.<br />

December 2010: Acquisition of two French companies, which have<br />

been pioneers in building management software: Vizelia, a provider<br />

of software that monitors the energy consumption of buildings in<br />

real time, and D5X, a specialist in solutions for optimising the use of<br />

commercial buildings.
