The overall score continues to progress beyond expectations.<br />
The main factors contributing to the 2010 performance are shown<br />
below:<br />
• the energy effi ciency business grew beyond the targeted<br />
objectives;<br />
• the share of purchases made from suppliers who have signed<br />
the Global Compact, the frequency of accidents at work and<br />
the number of Base of the Pyramid youths trained to energy<br />
management profession, all improved in 2010;<br />
• three indicators remain stagnant: <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong>’s presence<br />
in ethical stock indexes, the incorporation of SF 6 gas treatment<br />
facilities by subsidiaries, and youth training in energy management<br />

organisations on economic, social and environmental issues to foster<br />
Communicating the results of the Planet<br />
& Society Barometer<br />
Since 2009, the Planet & Society Barometer has been published<br />
through the following channels:<br />
• on the Internet at www.barometer.schneider-electric.com. The<br />
site was expanded in early 2009 to explain the new indicators<br />
for 2009-2011;<br />
• in a quarterly newsletter that informs the Group’s sustainable<br />
development stakeholders about the previous quarter’s<br />
performance and achievements;<br />
• the distribution list is managed through a database of contacts<br />
of the Sustainable Development Department, which is constantly<br />
updated;<br />
• on the Group’s Intranet, the performance of the Planet & Society<br />
Barometer, which refl ects value creation for stakeholders, is listed<br />
next to the <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> share price, which refl ects value<br />
creation for shareholders.<br />

Standardisation With more than 20 experts actively participating in international standardisation bodies, <strong>Schneider</strong><br />
<strong>Electric</strong> is making a decisive contribution to the elaboration of standards that ensure the reliability and<br />
transparency of the work on environmental issues of its services (UTE, Union technique de l’électricité<br />
et de la communication; CENELEC, European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation; IEC,<br />
International Electrotechnical Commission; ISO, International Organisation for Standardisation).<br />
<strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> plays an active role within AFNOR, the French Standards Organisation. It<br />
participates in the working group on sustainable development.<br />
Since February 2007, <strong>Schneider</strong> <strong>Electric</strong> has represented France on the IEC’s Advisory Committee for<br />
Environmental Aspects (ACEA). The ACEA works to advise and coordinate the IEC’s efforts to tackle<br />
environmental issues.<br />
Miscellaneous For many years, the Group has also actively supported Association pour le développement du<br />
mécénat industriel et commercial (ADMICAL), a French not-for-profi t organisation involved in corporate<br />
sponsorship issues, and IMS Entreprendre pour la cité, an association that helps companies<br />
implement their corporate social responsibility policies. Lastly, the Group participates in work<br />
conducted by CSR Europe, notably in the area of occupational health.<br />
