Adult Club Championships
Our Club Championships will be starting the week of
February 16 th . In the case of a large entry first round,
matches will start Wednesday, February 18 th with play
each evening. Finals afternoon, including courtside social
will be Saturday, February 21 st . As usual, there will be
A,B,C,D, and E categories for both men and women.
Girls Fun Day
Saturday, February 7 th from 1 to 3:30 pm will be our
second squash fun day of the season for girls only. As usual,
this fun event is open to all girl members of the Club from
experienced players to those wanting to try squash for the
very first time. All equipment can be provided on the day if
needed. The day will be run by an all female coaching team
led by assistant professional Susie King.
Junior Club Championships
We will be running our Junior Club Championships this
season the weekend of April 17 - 19. There will be
categories of U19, 17, 15, 13 and U11 for boys and girls.

Squash Easter Junior Camps
We will be running a mini-camp for juniors over the Easter weekend.
The camp will be for our junior players who can play at advanced novice
level or higher. Each day a specific theme focusing on improving a
specific shot will be worked on along with improving tactical awareness.

Alberta Junior Jesters
Our Club co-hosted the prestigious Jesters event in
November. Second only to the National Championships in
importance, this event always brings a host of top juniors
from all parts of Canada to compete.
Continuing early season success in local tournaments, we
again had a large contingent of our juniors enter and after
some truly memorable squash, we came away with three
champions and three runner-up! Congratulations to
champions Samantha Roberts, girl’s U13; Jenna Sherven,
girl’s U13 novice; and Michael Banks, boys U11 novice.
Also kudos goes out to runners-up Derek Field, boys U17;
Jason Field, boys U15; Brett Schille, boys U11; and to all
our other juniors who played in the event.
International Experience
Several of our top junior players have been fortunate enough
to play in some of the largest and most prestigious
tournaments in junior world squash this season.
Firstly, Jason and Derek Field, Alex Moir and Neil
Pohlman all travelled to Ontario to play in the Canadian
junior open, an event attracting most of North and South
America’s top talent. After four days of tough competition,
the standout performance came from Jason who reached the
quarter finals of his event.
Over the Christmas period, Derek and Jason then flew to
Europe to join Erin Roberts, who had already been in
northern England for two months full time, training at the
world renowned Pontefract Club. All three played in the
Scottish and British Junior Open’s. Both events attract world
class players, in particular the British, which is the
equivalent of the World Junior Championships. All played
some outstanding squash and gained invaluable experience
that can only help them improve during the coming seasons.
Standout performance came from Erin who beat several
higher ranked players to finish fourth at the Scottish, a great
result, continuing very good from that had seen her finish
third in the Irish junior open weeks previously.
