The 2008/2009 Singles <strong>Club</strong> Championships were held<br />
November 13 - 16 with 42 participants in six events.<br />
Participants enjoyed a triple-knockout format, ensuring a<br />
minimum of three matches per player. There were many<br />
closely contested matches, including three-set matches in the<br />
finals of the Women’s A and Men’s C events, and a three<br />
hour and fifty minute epic Men's A semi-final with Jethro<br />
Cheung prevailing 7 - 6 (3), 6 - 7 (1), 7 - 6 (4) over Steve<br />
Kirk.<br />

MIxeD DOubles <strong>Club</strong> ChaMPIONshIPs<br />
We invite you to join the 2008/2009 Mixed Doubles <strong>Club</strong><br />
Championships being held March 12 - 15. Each team will<br />
play a minimum of three matches, best of three set format.<br />
Events include A/B (4.5 and up) and C/D (up to and<br />
including 4.0) Sign up on “Game Time” with a partner, or<br />
talk to one of the pros if you need help finding a partner. .<br />

juNIOr teNNIs tOurNaMeNt<br />
The CWC hosted a Junior open Tennis tournament from<br />
January 2- 4. We had 68 players compete in the tournament<br />
with age categories of under 14 and under 18 boys and girls.<br />
In addition to lots of exciting tennis, the <strong>Club</strong> hosted a<br />
dodgeball event Saturday evening. Thanks to Hank Yap,<br />
Mike Bennett and Todd Oliphant for running the dodge<br />
ball event. Several CWC players had excellent results including<br />
Mikaela Bennett who finished second in girls under 14<br />
and Kelsi Oliphant who finished fourth.<br />
Thanks to all who volunteered at the tournament and special<br />
thanks to Jeannie Oliphant, Cathy Bennett and Hank Yap<br />
for their help in organizing volunteers for the tournament<br />
desk.<br />
