mujeres emprendedoras que dan para hablar
entrepreneurial women that get people talking
a Sephora.
Dominique Rosenberg is a mother of three, and she
is a serial entrepreneur (with as many businesses as
children). Her business adventure started in 2005 when,
together with her husband, she created D’Beauty Spa,
a beauty salon that she was able to create based on her
experiences acquired working in the United States.
A year later, the low quality and low supply of beauty
products in Chile triggered her second enterprise: DBS
Beauty Supply, a company dedicated to the distribution
of beauty products for professional use.
But Dominique did not stop there. Today, she sells
over 35 brands (4 of her own) through an innovative
concept: the online DBS Beauty Store, and she owns
more than 30 stores in Chile. DBS today has over 400
employees, a classic example of a young and dynamic
company, with annual growth rates higher than 40%,
reaching USD 24 million in 2014.
Her dynamism resulted in her being elected as an
Endeavor entrepreneur in 2011. Also, the Salcobrand
chain recently bought 70% of the company, which was a
milestone for DBS and for the retail market in Chile. This
transaction will undoubtedly contribute to deepening
the company’s growth and perhaps even turning it into
the Latin American Sephora.
There is also the case of Azucena Gutiérrez Sánches, a
young Peruvian woman who, together with her brother
in 2007, created Disfruta, the most popular juice chain
in Peru, which already has franchises in Chile. The origin
of Disfruta goes back to her
student years, when she and
her brother had a small juice
bar where they worked in
their spare time, inspired by
their grandmother, who had
owned one as well.
Besides her grandmother,
Azucena’s parents also had
their own business, so she always had the idea of “being
an entrepreneur”. In 2005, Azucena presented the
juice bar business plan as part of her courses in the Universidad
del Pacífico, where she obtained her Business
Management degree. Even though she already had the
motivation and the plan, she was lacking the capital.
That is why she accepted a job that let her save the
necessary money over two years. And in 2007, Difruta
finally took off.
Disfruta has not stopped growing since then. New
branches and franchises multiplied all around Peru: 6
