Fiestas Patronales del Rincón Mágico

Trajes alegóricos a la fiesta de
la Caña de Azúcar
a gracia y la simpatía de la mujer salvadoreña
siempre ha estado presente en las celebraciones
populares. A finales del s. XIX y principios del s.
XX se ubican las primeras carrozas decoradas y
las reinas de los barrios. En 1911, Carlos Alberto
Imery tuvo el encargo de elaborar carrozas para
las fiestas agostinas.
La primera reina de los festejos agostinos fue Ruth
Paulita Tennant Mejía, coronada en 1936 por el
entonces presidente de la República, general
Maximiliano Hernández Martínez.
Las carrozas, adornadas con guirnaldas y flores
de vivos colores, forman el marco ideal para
destacar la belleza de las reinas de los barrios y
colonias, quienes desfilan rodeadas de sus cortes
de honor.
Una de las fiestas más elaboradas es la de la Reina
de la Caña de Azúcar, en la que se preparan con
gran esmero trajes típicos y carrozas alegóricas,
cuya celebración es en honor a San Sebastián
Mártir y la Inmaculada Concepción de María.

The first decorated chariots; which would carry
the queens of the neighborhoods, appeared at
the end of the XIX Century and beginnings of the
XX Century. Carlos Alberto Imery was the person
responsible to elaborated the chariots for the
“fiestas agostinas” in 1911.
The first queen of the “Fiestas Agostinas” was Ruth
Paulita Tennant Mejía. She was crowned in 1936,
for the President Maximiliano Hernández Martínez
at the time.
The chariots are embellished with chaplets and
flowers of all colors; proper to highlight the beauty
of the queens of the neighborhoods who parade
surrounded by the honor court.
One of the most elaborate festivals is the one
denominated “Reina de la Caña de Azucar”,
which represents the sugar cane growth. In
this festival, costumes and allegorical chariots
are prepared with big effort. This celebration is
prepared in honor to “San Sebastian Mártir y la
Inmaculada Concepción de María”.
