María de Baratta olor of the sun, strength of the soil, buds, flowers and fruits everywhere; forests are perfumed, and nests there trembling trills, with birds chirping babbling born... It is the song of the tropics, bursting with music of the pipers birds, perfumes and colors...! This is Cuzcatlán: hot, vigorous, and pushful. The festival is; indeed, a festival of the senses. The sight is recreated at the millions of colors; red in the light, pink, the yellows created from Indian paper or crepe paper, which dress up the lounge, chariots, and the millions of colorful palms. An offering of flowers, colors, and perfumes to give tribute to the saints. The special meals of the occasion establish a part that makes the festival to be for the taste and smell. The exquisite flavor of the “elotes locos” of the typical appetizer and the handmade candies by our loving women are prepared for the delight of the old ones and young. The musical regimental band, with martial rhythm or the ancestor and laborious melody of the “marimba”, which sounds parallel to the whistle and the drum, go with the dance. 86
