Nascidos em São Paulo, em 1976, Gisela Motta e
Leandro Lima têm formação em artes visuais. A
dupla de artistas iniciou seu percurso artístico em
1998 realizando pesquisas em vídeo e, a partir de
edições de imagem e de som, aproximaram-se
do universo da arte e da tecnologia. Os trabalhos
desenvolvidos por eles representam visualidades
descomplicadas e limpas, e falam de situações
comuns à vida de todos.
Born in São Paulo in 1976, Gisela Motta
and Leandro Lima have degrees in
visual arts. The creative duo began their
artistic itinerary in 1998 investigating
video; through the editing of images and
sound, they approached the universe of
art and technology. The works they have
developed represent uncomplicated
and clean visualizations, and speak of
situations that are common to all.
Bancos de praças e outros espaços
públicos são palco de encontros,
desencontros, expectativas ou,
simplesmente, do transcorrer do
tempo. Nesta obra, as sombras
projetadas parecem se configurar
como memórias de alguns desses
momentos, ao mesmo tempo
em que compartilham o espaço
com o público que se senta nesses
mesmos bancos para observar a
videoinstalação, o arco de Tomie
Ohtake ou, simplesmente, descansar.
Benches in parks and other public
spaces set the stage for rendezvous,
misunderstandings, expectations
or, simply, for passing the time. In
this work, the shadows that are
projected seem to be giving shape to
memories of some of those moments,
even while sharing the space
with spectators who sit on these
same benches to watch the video
installation, observe Tomie Ohtake’s
arc or simply to rest.
