Nascida em São Paulo, em 1955, Raquel Kogan
tem formação em arquitetura. A artista inicia
sua trajetória na pintura e na gravura, e realiza
sua primeira obra tridimensional em 1999.
Utilizando materiais como espelhos, vidro, ferro e
areia, e agregando seu interesse por linguagens
multimídia, Kogan produz instalações que somam
e contrapõem o individual ao coletivo.
Born in São Paulo in 1955, Raquel
Kogan has a degree in architecture.
The artist begins her career in painting
and engraving and executes her first
installation in 1999. Using varied materials
and adding to them her interest in
multimedia languages, Kogan produces
installations that add the individual to
the collective but also counter it with his
individuality.
Ao caminhar sobre essa página de pó
de mármore branco calçando sapatos
cujas solas contém palavras em
alto-relevo, uma escrita se delineia,
articulando-se a partir de todos os
passos carimbados pelos visitantes
nesse solo instável. Configura-se então
um texto complexo e imprevisto que
aos poucos se transforma em rastro.
As one walks over this page of white
marble dust wearing shoes with
words embossed on their soles,
writing emerges, articulated out of
all the steps imprinted by visitors
on this unstable ground. A complex
and unpredictable textual storyline
composes itself but is soon undone.
