8. SUMMARY:

with great weight on a down to earth and close relationship with the viewer.
The theoretical chapter presents some of the theory that is used in the analysis and
discussion, the genre theory, and concentrates on the meaning of the program reference to real
life and the contractual relationship between producer and the recipient (the viewer).
The following analysis of TV2Vejret is built on an implicit dramaturgical approach,
whereby I investigate both structure, content and expression. In that matter I use the terms
and theories that I have presented in the theoretical chapter. In addition, I regularly introduce
and account for the new theories that I use. I do not use a specific model of analysis, but
instead concentrate my analysis on the things I find relevant in relation to my study object.
Finally the analysis is be compared to the statements of the editorial chief of the TV2Vejret,
Peter Tanev.
The analysis results in a conclusion that TV2Vejret is a program that builds upon factual
genre codes, but where the focus on nearness as a guiding criterion at the same time softens
the information by making the program more entertaining.
After the analysis follows a discussion on the specific genre of TV2Vejret. The discussion is
based on the previously used genre theory and the results of my analysis, and it will prepare
the ground for a specific categorization of the program genre. In this I reach the conclusion
that TV2Vejret is a kind of infotainment, as it is information presented in an entertaining way.
Lastly I will summarize my findings and put my analysis into perspective by evaluating the
ritual function that the program has in the viewers' everyday lives, as well as future
opportunities for the TV weather report presentation.
The effect of the focus on the nearness between program and viewer results in a TV
program that no longer is categorized as belonging to the serious factual genre, but instead
regains popular and ritual status among the viewers.
