Im Herzen der Düsseldorfer Altstadt
liegt ein ganz besonderes Kleinod: die
Carlstadt. Ein Stadtviertel, in dem Genuss,
Kultur und Lebensart gepflegt und
gelebt werden. In den kopfsteingepflasterten
Gässchen finden sich zwischen Boutiquen,
Antiquitätenläden, schmucken
Geschäften, verträumten Plätzen und
liebenswerten Cafés auch einige Kunstgalerien.
Da ist zum einen „Beck & Eggeling
International Fine Art“ mit den Schwerpunkten
französischer Impressionismus,
u.a. mit Werken von Renoir und Monet,
und deutscher Expressionismus, mit
Werken von Nolde, Kirchner oder August
Macke. Sehenswert!
Mit dem Werk von Picasso beschäftigt
sich die „Galerie für Kunst von Picasso“.
Im „Alten Haus in der Bilker Straße“
finden Sammler einige seiner großen
Kunstwerke, aber auch kleinformatige
Originalradierungen, die auch Einsteigern
den Beginn einer eigenen Sammlung erschwinglich
machen.
Der internationalen Gegenwartskunst
widmet sich die Galerie „new quarters“.
Etwa sechs bis acht Ausstellungen pro
Jahr zeigen die aktuellen Arbeiten renommierter
Künstler der Gegenwart.
Neben diesen drei Kunstgalerien birgt
die Carlstadt noch ein weiteres Kunstjuwel.
Das „Fragemal“, eine Skulptur zu
Ehren von Heinrich Heine, dem wohl
berühmtesten Sohn Düsseldorfs. Vom
Düsseldorfer Künstler Bert Gerresheim
entworfen, zeigt es zahlreiche Symbole
aus dem Leben und dem Werk des Dichters.

A very special treasure is located in the
heart of the historic city centre of Düsseldorf:
Carlstadt, a district that is famous for
its culture, way of life and special treats.
Here, between antique shops, boutiques,
pretty little shops, dreamy squares and
cosy cafés, you will also find quite a number
of art galleries along the cobbled alleys.
One of those is the Beck & Eggeling
International Fine Art gallery, which focuses
on French and German impressionism
and features works by Renoir, Monet,
Nolde, Kirchner and August Macke. Definitely
worth a visit!
As the name implies, the Galerie für
Kunst von Picasso focuses on the works
of Pablo Picasso. Some of his large-size
pieces can be found in the Altes Haus
in der Bilker Strasse (old house in Bilker
Street), which is also home to original etchings
in smaller formats, offering new art
lovers an affordable opportunity to start a
collection.
The New Quarters gallery is dedicated
to contemporary art. Every year, the most
recent works by renowned contemporary
artists are displayed as part of six to eight
exhibitions that take place over the year.
But there is yet another art treasure to
be discovered in Carlstadt apart from these
three art galleries: the “Fragemal” sculpture,
which is a homage to Heinrich Heine –
probably the most famous son of the city. It
was designed bei Bert Gerresheim, an artist
from Düsseldorf, and depicts many symbols
from the life and works of the poet.
