and grammar aspects will be revised. Participants
should have intermediate language
skills at a level between „Mittlere Reife“ and

This is a preparation course for the Cambridge
Certificate of Proficiency in English
(CPE). CPE is the highest level of Cambridge
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
exams, at level C2 of the Council
of europe‘s Common European Framework
of Reference for Languages. The ESOL exams
are well known for their high quality assessment
of real English, as used in work, study
and everyday situations. CPE is recognised
by thousands of universities and employers
throughout the world. It certifies that the
holder is able to communicate effectively
in almost any English-speaking context and
is approaching a standard of English similar
to that of an educated native speaker.
Success at this level represents a significant
personal achievement. Participants should
have a command of English which at least
corresponds to the Cambridge Certficate of
Advanced English (CAE) or Abitur or higher.
The course extends over two or three semesters
and comprises approximately 80 or 120
lessons. It will focus mainly on expanding
and improving vocabulary, on revising and
consolidating grammar, and on gaining idiomatic
confidence. It will also include sufficient
practice for the five examination papers:
Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening,
Speaking.
There is no obligation for participants to take
the CPE exam.
