WELCOME ADDRESS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE HELLENIC SOCIETY OF NEUROSURGERY
It gives me a great pleasure to address the 2 nd Joint
Meeting of the German and Greek Neurosurgical
Societies. Through the centuries, a strong historical
bond has developed between our two nations. This
is a bond of mutual respect and affection. The
German people have studied and appreciated
classical Greece more perhaps than any other
European nation and this influences them in having
a genuine interest in modern Greece as well. On
the other hand, in Greece, the educational system
influences the students in developing a great admiration
for the achievements of German people in
philosophy, science, culture and industry. With this
background, both nations look forward to a common
future of close collaboration for progress in all
fields of human endeavour particularly within the framework of the European Union.

I am certain that this Joint Meeting will strengthen the bond between our societies scientifically
and socially. It will be a great opportunity not only to become better informed
about the progress of neurosurgery in our countries, but particularly for the Greek guests
to enjoy the vitality of modern Germany and the beauty of the German countryside. I
wish to all a successful and enjoyable meeting that hopefully will lead to the creation of
many lasting friendships among colleagues.
