C.S. In <strong>Kitzbühel</strong> the media value is<br />
obviously extremely high and one of<br />
the main reasons for the comparatively<br />
high insurance sum. Even for normal<br />
events the TV funds and sponsoring<br />
money often exceed ticket revenues. In<br />
<strong>Kitzbühel</strong> this is no different – despite<br />
the thousands of visitors and VIPs. And<br />
this money is part of the insurance<br />
sum, too.<br />
L.L. You are market leader in the area<br />
of cancellation insurance cover for<br />
sports events and you serve numerous<br />
organisers. What aspects need to be taken into account regarding<br />
the Hahnenkamm race? What risks can you insure?<br />
C.S. At the Hahnenkamm race, just like with any other<br />
outdoor event, it’s mostly about the weather. <strong>Kitzbühel</strong> is not<br />
located at a very high altitude and the most important part<br />
of the slope, the traverse, is close to the valley, it’s not open<br />
to the public and it’s exposed to the sun. This is a part where<br />
we’re afraid whether the snow cover will hold every year. But<br />
the mountain railways have purchased a new snow machine<br />
especially for this section, so the problem should be less<br />
pressing in the future. In general too little but also too much<br />
snow is a problem. Poor visibility, caused by a fog bank in<br />
the wrong place, may also be a problem. Other aspects that<br />
need to be insured are technical defects like TV transmission<br />
