AUS DEM HAUSEIGENEN NIGHT CLUB GIBT ES NEUIGKEITEN
Jazz, Genre ohne Grenzen. Er treibt an und berührt die
Seele – und es gibt kaum eine Musikrichtung, die so
vielfältig und spontan ist wie Jazz. Er hat sich über Jahrzehnte
hinweg weiterentwickelt und den Zeiten angepasst,
ein bisschen so wie der Bayerische Hof auch. Folgerichtig,
dass diesem Musikstil auch im hoteleigenen
Night Club gehuldigt wird. Denn hier wird das mannigfaltige
Kulturangebot des Bayerischen Hofs um nicht nur
eine besondere Note erweitert.
„Jazz ist meine Musik“, sagt auch Innegrit Volkhardt,
die mit dem Night Club seit 1992 nicht nur ihrer persönlichen
Leidenschaft folgt, sondern eine ernstzunehmende
und international beachtete Institution mit
aufgebaut hat. Ob Jazz, Latin oder Blues: Es gibt kaum
einen Künstler, der noch nicht im Bayerischen Hof zu
Gast war und die Zuhörer in seinen Bann zog. Marcus
Miller, Mike Stern, Pharoah Sanders, Al Jarreau, George
Benson, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Miriam Makeba
oder Tito Puente – sie alle sorgten schon für Nächte voller
Musik und Leidenschaft in gemütlicher Atmosphäre.
Für viele ist Jazz eine Art Klang gewordene Poesie. Und
was ihn als Lebensgefühl auszeichnet, ist vor allem
seine improvisatorische Natur und die Fähigkeit der
Musiker, zur gegenseitigen Inspiration. Meist spielen
Jazz-Musiker ohne Noten, lassen sich von ihrem Gefühl
leiten. Gerade das sorgt für einzigartige und spontane
Momente, führt aber auch dazu, dass sich Jazz in viele
verschiedene Richtungen entwickelt hat, von Bebop
über Cool Jazz bis hin zu Fusion und Free Jazz. Und
so ist das Haus besonders stolz, diese lebendige Szene
nicht nur den Hotelgästen zugänglich zu machen. Seit
1991 (damals noch Münchener Klaviersommer) findet
im Traditionshotel auch ein hauseigenes Festival statt:
der „Jazz Sommer“ im Bayerischen Hof, der nach dreijährigem
Corona-Stopp in diesem Jahr nun endlich wieder
stattfinden kann.
Unter der Leitung von Oliver Hochkeppel steht der
diesjährige Jazzsommer vom 24. bis 29. Juli unter dem
Jazz, a genre without borders. It drives and touches the
soul - and there is hardly another genre that is as diverse
and spontaneous as jazz. It has evolved over the decades
and adapted to the times, a bit like the Bayerische Hof. It
is only logical that this style of music is also honoured in
the hotel’s own Night Club. Because here, the Bayerischer
Hof’s diverse cultural offerings are enhanced by more
than just a special touch.
“Jazz is my music,” says Innegrit Volkhardt, who has not
only been following her personal passion with the Night
Club since 1992, but has also helped to build up a serious
and internationally respected institution. Whether
Jazz, Latin or Blues: there is hardly an artist who has not
been a guest at the Bayerischer Hof and captivated the
audience. Marcus Miller, Pharoah Sanders, Al Jarreau,
George Benson, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Miriam
Makeba or Tito Puente - they have all provided nights full
of music and passion in a cosy atmosphere.
For many, Jazz is a kind of poetry turned into sound. And
what distinguishes it as an attitude to life is above all its
improvisational nature and the musicians’ ability to inspire
each other. Jazz musicians often play without notes,
letting themselves be guided by their feelings. It is precisely
this that creates unique and spontaneous moments,
but also leads to the fact that jazz has developed in many
different directions, from Bebop to Cool Jazz to Fusion
and Free Jazz. And so the hotel is particularly proud to

Festivalbeginn, im
Night Club
die das eigens für das Festival geschriebene Programm
„Europa Breakdown“ (mit Techno-Jazz) im Festsaal
welturaufführen wird. Danach lädt der Fado-Jazz-Pianist
Julio Resende im Night Club auf eine Reise nach
Portugal ein, ehe es am nächsten Tag mit dem Duo Laura
Jurd und Elliott Galvin nach England weitergeht. Nils
Petter und Wolfgang Puschnig sind nur einige der fein
kuratierten Namen, die im Programm des Jazzsommers
zu finden sind.
Und als wäre das Comeback des Jazzsommers unter geneigten
Jazz-Aficionados nicht schon Grund zur Freude
genug, erlebt der Night Club ebenfalls seine kleine
Renaissance: Mit neuem Programm-Team, neuen monatlichen
Schwerpunkten und vielen weiteren Überraschungen
wollen Innegrit Volkhardt, Oliver Hochkeppel
(ein bekannter Musikjournalist) und Jessica Mohr (ehemals
Sony Music) den Status des Bayerischen Hofs als
feste Größe in der Jazzwelt sichern.

Since 2007, the traditional house has also hosted its own
festival: the “Jazz Summer” at the Hotel Bayerische Hof,
which can finally take place again this year after a threeyear
stop. And more radiantly than ever.
Under the direction of Oliver Hochkeppel, this year’s
Jazzsommer from 24th to 29th July is themed “A Stroll
through Europe” - and welcomes both renowned performers
and newcomers to the European Jazz scene. The
festival kicks off with the Munich Jazzrausch Bigband,
which will give the world premiere of the programme
“Europa Breakdown” (with Techno Jazz), written especially
for the festival. Afterwards, the Fado Jazz pianist
Julio Resende invites you on a journey to Portugal in the
Night Club, before the duo Laura Jurd and Elliott Galvin
takes you to England the next day. Nils Petter and
Wolfgang Puschnig are just some of the finely curated
names to be found in the Jazz Summer programme.
And as if the comeback of the Jazz Summer was not
reason enough for joy among inclined Jazz aficionados,
the Night Club is also experiencing a small renaissance:
with a new team responsible for the programme, new
monthly focuses and many more surprises, Innegrit
Volkhardt, Oliver Hochkeppel (a well-known music
journalist) and Jessica Mohr (former Sony Music) want
to secure the Bayerischer Hof’s status as a permanent
fixture in the world of Jazz.
