10.4. Valves<br />
To avoid Wavistrong pipes being overstressed by bending, valves, butterfly valves or other heavy accessories must<br />
be supported separately. This can be done by direct support of the valve or indirectly by means of the flange bolts.<br />

If a Wavistrong flange is connected to a steel flange, the support should preferably be situated at the side of the steel<br />
flange. This is also aplicable for underground applications. <strong>Pipe</strong> sections should not become overloaded by the weight<br />
of the accessories, for example by soil settlement. One suggestion would be concrete supports provided with steel<br />
connections, able to carry the full load of the valve. Also bending and torque forces caused by opening and closing<br />
of valves should be absorbed.Hand operated butterfly valves can be supported or mounted in a manhole as follows:<br />
