ACTIVITIES SPECIALTY BATTERY GROUP In 2011, Saft’s Specialty Battery Group (SBG) growth was driven by major civil electronics markets such as metering and smart metering, but also by some niche markets in the medical and oil and gas sectors for example. Saft’s technical leadership in civil activities delivered a record year for sales growth in space. In the defence sector, SBG’s wide customer base underpinned the company’s ability to cement its leadership position. MAIN APPLICATIONS Utility meters, electronic toll collection, military communication systems, satellites, torpedoes, space launchers, military hybrid vehicles, small submarines, missiles, night-vision goggles, GPS systems, medical equipment, asset tracking, sonobuoys.
