should be in AutoCAD (latest version) and all documents in electronic media in<br />

addition to hard copy/ reproducibles as a part of project requirement.<br />

2.38 Unit rate of all items/modules and hardware shall be indicated by contractor <strong>for</strong> any<br />

future addition/deletion <strong>for</strong> system related items. This price shall include all<br />

engineering charges, installation, software charges etc. related to the effected<br />

addition/deletion.<br />

2.39 All necessary furniture required <strong>for</strong> mounting consoles, printers, CRT’s, video copier etc.<br />

shall be provided by the contractor.<br />

3 SPARES PHILOSOPHY<br />

3.1 Mandatory Spares<br />

Mandatory spares <strong>for</strong> instrumentation and control system shall be provided as below<br />

unless otherwise specified in the job <strong>specification</strong>:<br />

a) 10% spare instruments or minimum one of each range, type and material of<br />

construction (except <strong>for</strong> control valves, pressure relief valves, displacer type<br />

instruments, level gauges, flowmeters, analysers and special instruments)<br />

b) 5% or minimum one module <strong>for</strong> all control systems (DCS/PLC/PG’s/ESD etc.)<br />

3.2 2-years operational spares<br />

Unless otherwise specified in the job <strong>specification</strong>s, all spares <strong>for</strong> 2 years of operation<br />

like gaskets, O-rings, diaphragms etc. as required <strong>for</strong> all instruments <strong>for</strong> two years of<br />

trouble free operation shall be provided.<br />

3.3 Commissioning spares<br />

Any kind of spares required <strong>for</strong> start-up & commissioning shall be provided.<br />

3.4 Consumable Spares<br />

Consumable spares <strong>for</strong> a minimum of one year duration after acceptance and shall<br />

include chart paper, printer paper, ink, cartridges, floppies etc required <strong>for</strong> recorders,<br />

printers and hard copier units, unless otherwise specified elsewhere.<br />

4 GENERAL REQUIREMENT OF INSTRUMENTS<br />

4.1 Instrument Concept<br />

4.1.1 Major instrumentation shall be electronic type with final control elements as pneumatic.<br />

4.1.2 Electronic Instruments<br />

a) All electronic instruments requiring separate power supply, shall generally operate<br />

on 110 V 50 Hz. Instruments operating at 24 V DC shall also be acceptable.<br />

b) Electronic transmitters shall generally be two wire type. These shall have<br />

transmission/output signal of 4-20 mA DC and shall be capable of delivering<br />

rated current into external load of at least 600 Ω when powered with 24 V DC<br />

nominal voltage.<br />

c) Smart transmitter when selected, shall be used in analog output mode. Digital<br />

integration shall be avoided unless specified otherwise.<br />
