AACC offers a comprehensive ESL program with a variety
of courses at the beginning, intermediate, high intermediate,
advanced and capstone levels. Courses are designed
to provide students with the English language skills they
need for success at work, in the community or for academic

Information for New Students
New students must:
• Submit an application to the Admissions office
• Take the ESL placement test
• Get advice about ESL courses
• Register for courses
• Pay tuition
ESL Placement Test
The ESL placement test is offered at the following
locations:

English Basic Skills
The English Basic Skills courses are for students who are
just beginning to study English. These classes integrate
listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students
develop English language skills for everyday life.
A grant from the state of Maryland allows the college
to offer English Basic Skills courses at no cost to students
who reside in Anne Arundel County. For more information,

The total cost of this project is $509,893 of which 50 percent
($255,970) is funded through the U.S. Department of
Education, 30 percent ($153,988) is funded through the
State of Maryland, Department of Labor, Licensing
and Regulation and 20 percent ($99,935) is supported
by Anne Arundel Community College.
