Therapeutic Massage<br />

The following clinical continuing education courses are for<br />

therapeutic massage and other health care professionals.<br />

A copy of professional certification or licensure as a<br />

health care provider is required at the first class meeting.<br />

Students are responsible for determining if the course<br />

content is within the scope of practice for their profession<br />

as determined by their regulatory board or agency.<br />

AACC is a National Certification Board for Therapeutic<br />

Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)-approved provider for<br />

continuing education. AACC is recognized by the Board of<br />

Certification Inc. to offer continuing education for certified<br />

athletic trainers.<br />

basic Sports massage for Athletic Events<br />

Learn the physiological goals and techniques to use for preevent,<br />

inter-event and post-event massages for upper and<br />

lower body sports. Discuss cramp release techniques, thermal<br />

injuries, safe practices, ethics and medical referral considerations.<br />

CEUs awarded. $130 includes $10 fee.<br />

Note: Please bring a sheet and massage lotion to the class. Dress<br />

to perform and receive sports massage. Approved by the National<br />

Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)<br />

for 14 CE hours. Approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical<br />

Therapy Examiners for 1.4 CEUs. This class fulfills half the CEU requirements<br />

for membership in the Maryland Professional Sports Massage<br />

Team and/or the National Capital Region Sports Massage Team.<br />

Certification in Sanitation<br />

National food safety certification by the National Restaurant<br />

Association (NRA) designed for food service professionals.<br />

Learn the cause and prevention of food-borne illnesses,<br />

maintenance of sanitary conditions, and how to implement a<br />

Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. Study<br />

the flow of food from receiving through storage, prep and<br />

service. A certification from the NRA is issued to students who<br />

satisfactorily complete the course and pass the examination.<br />

Students must purchase textbook at AACC Bookstore prior to<br />

attending the first class. CEUs awarded. $95 includes $5 fee.<br />
