230 IV - BURNED LAND MAPPING, FIRE SEVERITY DETERMINATION, AND VEGETATION RECOVERY ASSESSMENT Kappa coefficient. The highest Kappa coefficient was for a NBR threshold value of 0.06. Burn area map as resulted from this methodology was validated using two burn area products: L3JRC and MCD45A1. The overall accuracy of our product was 92.52 and 97.14%, respectively. Burned area within the test region was of 2065km 2 (our estimation), 2182km 2 (L3JRC) and 1568km 2 (MCD45A1). Figure 2 shows an example.
