Blonder Tongue’s Fiber Optics
Whether you are considering consolidating headends, expanding to new areas, providing ingress-proof return signals,
transporting remote studio feeds, or stretching L-band signal further than ever before, Blonder Tongue has a fiber optic
solution to suit your needs. Blonder Tongue’s combination of engineering expertise and versatile product line make us an
ideal supplier for all of your fiber optic needs. Our product line is broken down in to four major areas:
TRAILBLAZER: Broadband 80 & 110 Channel Links
RETRO-LINX: Baseband and Limited Broadband
TWIN STAR: L-band
FIBER CONNECT: Accessories
TRAILBLAZER
The TRAILBLAZER line is Blonder Tongue’s broadband fiber optic distribution solution. The line consists of transmitters,
receivers, and integrated receiver/distribution amplifiers to meet any distribution requirement. Full 860
MHz bandwidth fiber optic links are available to provide up to 110 VSB/AM channels (or 80 VSB/AM channels plus
30 digital channels) at a distance of over 20 km. These high quality links will provide excellent RFI free performance
for headend distribution to apartment complexes, campuses, hospitals, campgrounds, and pocket deployment
of interdiction technology. Using a TRAILBLAZER transmitter in conjunction with our line of couplers will
enable you to reach more destinations at once. Don’t hesitate to call on our systems engineering group to help
you design a system.
RETRO-LINX
The RETRO-LINX line is comprised of three different product areas to fulfill many specialty applications. The three
product areas are: limited broadband, video/audio/audio, and video only. The limited broadband area has 5, 10,
15, or 25 channel links available. You can use these links to move RF channels from your sub-band return path
on to fiber, increasing the quality of the signal, as well as the range. The video/ audio/ audio area can eliminate
the headaches of trying to get a remote feed back to the headend via the existing coaxial plant, or point to point
microwave. This product provides clean, ingress-proof studio feeds that can go the distance on either single mode
or multimode fiber. The FM video only links enable remote monitoring options through your existing fiber plant.
The links are available for either single mode or multimode fiber. The single mode versions can go out to 70 km,
and the multimode can go up to 15 km.
TWIN STAR
The TWIN STAR line is Blonder Tongue’s L-band fiber distribution solution. The line is comprised of single and
multiple output transmitters and receivers. These multi-output units enable distribution of L-band signals farther
than ever possible with coaxial cable. The compact single transmitters and receivers can be used to bring signals
back to the headend from remote downlink sites. The multiple output transmitters and receivers are designed with
the MDU build in mind. The transmitters are available with 8, 12, and 16 optical outputs, while the receivers are
available in 8, 16 or 24 RF output versions. This means that you can easily get signal to 1,536 receivers from one
dish! The receivers are versatile in the fact that they diplex the CATV signal and the L-band signal together to provide
a single wire to the home solution. The receiver will pass the sub-channel return signal and can also be line
powered from the CATV signal.
