6. Do you have a map of the fiber routing? Does the fiber run uninterrupted between locations or are there splice junction boxes, repair splices or hub rooms where the fiber transitions between buildings? 7. Has the fiber ever been tested and if so do you have loss figures or OTDR printouts? 8. Are you using dark fibers that are part of an existing system? 9. What function do the fibers perform that are in use? Ethernet? Video? 10. What color jacket does the fiber you plan to use have? Orange? Yellow? 11. What color sleeve does the connector have that you plan to use? Green? White or Black? Blue? 12. If you plan to rack mount any fiber equipment, what width are the existing racks? Do you have permission to use them? Are there electrical outlets available? 13. What is the average ambient temperature of the room where your active fiber equipment will be housed? Will it be over +40 degrees C.? 14. How many channels of video do you plan to transport via your fiber? 15. Is this an AM/VSB (CATV/MATV) application or L-Band (950-1450 MHz digital transport) application? 16. Do you plan to use existing optical couplers to split the fiber signal to feed multiple locations? If so, do you have the model numbers and loss data of the couplers including their wavelength? 17. Will you require fiber jumpers to connect transmitters to couplers, equipment to patch panels, patch panels to outbound fibers etc? If so, how long do they need to be and what type of fiber and connectors will be required? 18. Will the fiber signal require amplification after it is received? (what signal level do you need at the receive sites to feed the appropriate equipment/units?) 19. Will you be splitting the optical signal in locations other than 19” rack mount headends or hubs? If so, what are the environmental conditions? 20. Will your optical receivers be collocated with AC power sources? 21. What are the lower and upper frequency limits of your source channels? 22. Do you own any fiber test equipment? OTDR? Power Meter? 23. Are you planning to use any other existing fiber equipment besides cable or patch panels? Transmitters? Receivers? Do you have the data sheets and specifications for this equipment? 2
