The FIBT series of transmitters provides a robust system for<br />
transferring 80 or 110* channels of VSB/AM modulated signals<br />
over a single mode optical fiber. The system provides for<br />
up to 860 MHz of usable bandwidth for video signals stacked<br />
at 6 MHz intervals. A low loss single mode optical fiber (e.g.<br />
0.5 dB/km) will allow full channel loading to beyond 20 km<br />
while maintaining good CNR, CSO, and CTB specifications.<br />
(*The 110 channel system can also transfer 80 CATV<br />
channels along with 30 digital QAM channels in the upper frequency range.)<br />
The FIBT-S3A series transmitter uses a high-power, low noise 1310 nm distributed feedback (DFB) laser diode. An optical<br />
isolator protects the laser from optical reflections in the transmission path. This ensures high CNR, consistent performance<br />
in all installation scenarios, and excellent linearity. The transmitter is configured for EIA 19" wide rack mounting<br />
with a height of 1.75". The chassis can be powered to operate from 110 VAC or 220 VAC.<br />

The transmitters contain LED status indicators that allow the link’s status to be quickly assessed locally.<br />
POWER INDICATOR (Green LED): The LED will be green when the unit is receiving AC power, and off<br />
when the unit is not receiving power.<br />
RF INPUT (Tri-color LED Green/Amber/Red): When the LED is green, the signal is at optimum input levels.<br />
When the LED is amber, the RF input signal has dropped to<br />
insufficient levels, and when the LED is red, the signal is overloading<br />
the unit.<br />
COOLER STATUS (Bi-color LED Green/Red): When the LED is green the laser cooler is functioning properly, and<br />
the laser temperature is stable. It is normal for this LED to change<br />
from red to green in the first ten seconds after power has been<br />
applied to the transmitter. If the unit turns red any other time, the unit<br />
should be turned off immediately.<br />
LASER STATUS (Bi-color LED Green/Red): When the LED is green the laser is initialized and operating normally.<br />
It is normal for this LED to change from red to green in the first ten<br />
seconds after power has been applied to the transmitter. If the unit<br />
turns red any other time, this may indicate a laser failure.<br />
All of these status monitors can be monitored remotely via the D-Sub 9-Pin connector on the rear of the unit.<br />
